Brake light switches are rather under estimated as a potential cause of serious trouble.
There’s two possibilities… the switch can get dirty inside and can get stuck. Brake lights on in the garage, battery flat forget about the trip.
Dirty contacts can also lead to dead brake lights. You may be able to see that SUV coming in the rear view mirror.. you could get surprised.
Not really what you’d want.
This switch is the OE replacement for the old switch in your car. You could consider changign the switch every five years or so.
