The gear change cables as originally used for Elise, Exige S1 and Rover powered Elises were known to be sloppy and tend to break over time.
With these heavy duty and true motorsport cables, you can overcome three problems!
First of all, the chance of breaking one of these cables of next to zero! They are heavy duty and have been used in Motorsport for a long time.
Second, you may have installed a gear linkage kit to get rid of the sloppy feeling you normally experience while shifting gears? These cables will do better than that! The gear change will feel like it should have felt from the very beginning!
Third, the adjustability of these cables is much better. The ends have seperate adjusters which makes it a lot easier and preciser to adjust the gearchange.
These cables are only being sold in pairs. They are thicker than the original cables, but relatively easy to install.
There is no need to increase hole sizes or change anything on the car. The cables can be routed and fitted just like the OE cables.
Lotus made a modification to the last few Rover powered Elise S2’s which are identified as model year 2004. These cars were equipped with larger diameter cables and a modified abutment bracket.
If you find these cables on your car, you will also need a replacement abutment bracket as well as two gear change cable retention clips.
The abutment bracket can be found here.
The gearchange cable retention clips can be found under this link.
