The Elise and Exige S1 are classics meanwhile, but do those window glasses really need to rattle in the doors? Nahh..
This rattling noise can be caused by a number of issues, one of the most common issues is worn silent channels..
The front and rear sides of the window glass is moving through a metal channel. Within that metal channel, Lotus glued a rubber product which folds into the channel and stops the window from rattling.
Lotus has obsoleted the Silent Channel back in 2019 which leaves Elise S1 owners in a bit of a pickle as the product wears and needs replacement from time to time.
To overcome this, we have asked our rubber supplier to provide us with the same product, so .. it’s available again!
One Silent Channel is 1mtr, which covers one door, the Silent Channel is supplied without adhesive, we recommend to use a flexible contact adhesive such as Bison Tix.
When you install the Silent Channel, clean the metal channels carefully, remove any remains of the old Silent Channel and use a Spatula to push the new Silent Channel in position. Make sure the corners are pushes down properly on both side of the Channel to enable to Window to move through the new Silent Channel.
